Townhouses for sale are also sometimes referred to as row housing or townhomes. These unique structures were created to fit as many homes onto one piece of land as possible. Initially built as lower cost housing due to their lesser size and smaller lots than detached homes, townhouses have grown in popularity over the years and some are now just as expensive and luxuriously appointed as regular detached houses.
Today it is not uncommon for whole communities of townhouses to be built in certain areas. In fact, townhouses are most commonly found in urban settings where a lack of space make them especially attractive alternatives to detached homes for people who enjoy living in the city but prefer a house over an apartment. Many townhouses are, in fact, condos and function in the same manner as apartment-style condominiums.
Townhouses are a great way of enjoying the comforts of a house including greater space, a yard, a private garage, two levels including a basement while sharing the cost of the land and taxes with the others on your block. Although in the past sound proofing between some townhouses was not very good, that problem no longer exists and sound transfer between units is virtually non-existent. |
